Social comparison and it's impact on donations
Intervention Description
The authors tested pro-social decisions in regard to the preparation of ski tracks, a public good. The experimental groups were examined when being presented with different beliefs about the behavior of others. It was found that the group that received information about the behavior of others contributed significantly more to the preparation of ski tracks than the group that did not, suggesting that decisions are impacted by social comparisons.
